Until it wasn’t

It was a glorious failure. I was skeptical of this movie until I was in the dark theater. Who could imitate the features of Chevy Chase and John Belushi? Who could capture the bravura of Dan Ackroyd? Who could dare imitate Gilda Radner’s often captivating charm?

It was a fun and tumultuous time between the Nixon and Reagan eras

The actors, most notably Gabrielle LaBelle as the visionary fool Lorne Michaels, do all this with gleeful aplomb. There are plenty of laughs for those who remember the mid-70s and even those who don’t. But out of it came a revolution in television comedy that continues to this day in full force.
